Reunión presencial de la PIERR (junio 2024) y recepción

For the first time since the PIERR’s launch, several of the PIERR members met in-person from 26 to 27 June 2024 in Geneva, with some hybrid participation, for internal discussions on upcoming priorities, PIERR membership, group working methods, and further opportunities for engagement.  

Key outcomes from the internal discussions included identifying a number of priority issues for the PIERR, including access to asylum, statelessness, climate change, and the cross-cutting issue of gender in all its diversity. Immediate opportunities for further exploration include a side event at the September Human Rights Council session, engagement at the High-Level Event on Statelessness in October, engagement, including a dedicated side event, at the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights regular session in October, and possible engagement with the Inter-American Commission.
